Brown County

When I think of my favortie vacations with Jason several come to mind. There was the weekend we roasted in 100+ degree weather in southern Indiana for my birthday, the night we camped in Vail for the 4th of July, our first trip to Buffalo Creek when I swore we were going to get eaten alive by bears (turns out they were cows), the seven consecutive nights we spent under the stars doing the Bike Tour which included some favorites such as Ouray and Telluride, our trips to Moab, Fruita, & Grand Junction with Adventure Cycling, mountain biking off Magnolia road and eating Backcountry Pizza for three days straight in Nederland, repeating the Nederland trip just to get another taste of Backcountry Pizza, the night we pitched a tent in our apartment living room, and last but not least our trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon last spring. All of my favorite trips involve our tent so it was only fitting that our first family vacation with Levi included that tent! We packed up the beastman, the dog, and the tent and headed south to Brown County State Park.

It was the first time Levi really spent time in the great outdoors. He found all sorts of things to get into. Ants, leaves, twigs, dirt. Here he is looking pretty fascinated by a piece of dirt.

We brought some of the comforts of home with us. For example, a dump truck. Here's Jason teaching Levi how the launch Cheerios off the back of the truck. Levi is missing out on all the fun.

We were lazy and ate dinner at the park lodge, but that's pretty typical of our camping trips. Modest sleeping quarters and lavish dinners. (Reference the Backcountry Pizza we ate so much of!)

We're not pushing the walking issue, honest. Just having a little fun with the beastman. Frankly he can wait until he's 2 to walk if that's what he wants to do. He's already fast enough on all fours. I can't imagine what he'll be like when he learns to stand erect.

All in all our first camping trip with Levi was a success. We can't wait to do it again!
